After the ControlAula announce in GnomeFiles, I received a lot of messages asking it to be internationalized. Many of them also asked me to increase the number of computers/classroom because more than 20 were needed in some places. And, as usually happens in the open software world, some people have sent me code with improvements. These reasons have made me release a new version: version 0.8 with these new features:
- Teacher can control up to 40 computers per classroom.
- English and French (thanks to Claude Paroz) translations.
- New classroom setup window, with options to move desktops, distribute students in rows and columns, etc. This module has been developed by Francisco Paniagua Sánchez, sysadmin in a Extremadura high school. Francisco noticed this need watching how teachers used the tool and he developed this module making them happier.
As usual, the application can be installed in Debian compatible systems using apt-get from gnuLinEx repositories (totally sarge compatible, adding this line:
deb http://www.linex.org/sources/linex/debian/ sarge linex
Source code is available at the gnuLinEx gforge server.
